Seam — AI academic assistant · Last updated: 2026
Draft. This is a working draft prepared for the founders. Have it reviewed by a solicitor / your Data Protection Officer before public launch, and confirm the data-hosting region and controller details.

1. Who we are

Seam is an AI study assistant for university students, built by Peter Heavey and Rowan Duffy ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact: 06seamai@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

3. What we do NOT collect

The extension is restricted to academic pages only by a strict allow-list. It never reads your profile, personal details, address, contact/emergency information, bank or payment details, password, or date of birth.

4. Why we use it (lawful basis)

We process your data to provide the service you ask for — a personalised study assistant that knows your modules, lectures, grades and deadlines. Our lawful bases are your consent (which you give when you connect the extension) and performance of our contract with you (providing the app). You can withdraw consent at any time by disconnecting the extension and/or deleting your account.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.

6. Where it's stored & security

Your data is stored with Supabase and protected by row-level security, so only your account can access your data. Traffic is encrypted in transit. Our AI provider key is held server-side and never exposed to the app.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all your data is erased (see below).

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can access, export, correct or delete your data, and object to or restrict processing. In Seam you can do this directly: Settings → Your data → Export my data / Delete account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible. For anything else, email us.

You also have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).

9. Changes

We'll update this page if our practices change and note the date above.
